OPI Swiss Collection Swatches

I have three polishes from the OPI Swiss Collection to show you today. I'm excited because not only are these colours awesome, but my very talented Dad made me a light box and this is the first time I am using it for a nail post.

It's good because it means I can swatch and photograph at any time now, not just on weekends when it is sunny and it also means I don't have to use the flash on my camera any more so the colours are closer to what they are like in real life. So thanks muchly for doing this for me Dad - you're awesome!

Glitzerland
Glitzerland applied like a dream. I am loving the brushes that OPI uses. So easy to control and the wideness makes it so much easier for smooth, quick and even application. This one dried fast and is champagne in a polish. The shimmer particles are metallic and bright and remind me of bubbles in a glass of well...bubbly. This one nearly looks like a foil because the shimmer is sparkly. The bonus on this one is that it is much easier to clean up then a foil, it leaves less sparkle on the skin, but the same awesome look on the nail. This is two coats, possibly could have used a third as I can see a bit of VNL.

Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous
Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous is my favourite of the three I have. I think I always knew I would love it the most, even before I saw the colours in person. It looks like liquid metal. This one is an interesting cross between glitter and shimmer. It's still not a foil, because the shimmer particles are obvious but it's still unlike any glitter or shimmer I've seen. I'm going to call this finish a glimmer. Haha, I just worked out what it would have been called if I'd combined the descriptive words the other way around. This one applies the same as Glitzerland. It starts off sheer, but builds up quickly. I believe this is only two coats, although the second coat was a bit of a thick one.

Yodel Me On My Cell
Yodel Me On My Cell is another awesome colour. This picture isn't the greatest one. I was having trouble capturing the shimmer to it. I've included a close up of the shimmer as well so you can see it better. It's a deep blue with a strong shimmer to it. It reminds me of the ocean when you go out really deep on a boat, when the sun hits the water. A really pretty colour, I think it's extremely wearable for a blue polish. Again, the application was perfect, this is two coats.

The polish formula was consistent with all three shades. Not runny, not think. Applies smoothly, dries quickly. The first coat always looks a little streaky but it builds up quickly and evenly. And the brushes? LOVE!

The colours I have are awesome and I would love to get my hands on the rest of the collection, especially William Tell Me About OPI, Ski Teal We Drop, Dive of Geneva and Cuckoo For This Color.

These polishes are available now around Australia at David Jones and at a few salons as well. They retail at $19.95.

Just a reminded that my MAC Giveaway is open for entries. If you haven't entered already, you can do so by clicking here.

That's it from me today.

Be awesome to each other.

(These polishes were sent to me for review)

  2. Hi Jessika,

Thanks! I think the lightbox makes a world of difference. I honestly don't think there were any duds in the Swiss Collection.

  4. Hi Caramel Cutie,

That retail price I listed is for us Aussie gals. We pay more for OPI here because of shipping, staffing and all of those fun things.
My Dad made mine for me, well I helped (and by helped I mean got in the way). It was super easy to do and cheap as well. If you google it, there are plenty of links on how to make it yourself.

    Cheers,

  6. I was quite disappointed by William tell me about OPI. Online it looked such an awesome colour but irl, it was more of a plum colour. Too bad! Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous looks awesome.

  7. Hi Chaos,

Lightboxes are super easy to make, all you need is a box, tracing paper and a lamp or three.

$20 AUD is fairly normal for us to pay for a US polish. Even some Aussie brands like Bloom are still that much. I guess if you want the polish then and there, you will pay that for it. The alternative is getting it online and having to wait for it to show up. Which sucks. Nail polishes are mostly impulse purchases, so having to wait is not fun.

  8. Hi Snooze,

I am sorry to hear that. From what I understand William Tell Me About OPI is a deep eggplant colour that is quite popular at the moment.

Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous is a stunning colour, if you get the opportunity, you should def pick it up.

  9. I really like Yodel Me on My Cell, even though I know it's not the most original and unique colour out there, it's certainly pretty! :)
