OPI Burlesque - Sparkle-icious

I am loving the OPI Burlesque Collection. As I've said before, I don't think there is a single dud in the bunch. This one is by far my favorite of the glitter polishes.

I applied 2 coats of Sparkle-icious over 1 coat of white in hopes that it would make it easier to remove and also because I am lazy and that is what I was already wearing. Please excuse the random glitter bits on my fingers, I'm sure anyone who has ever worn a glitter polish knows it is pretty much unavoidable.

It didn't make it easier btw. It was hell. Well, I didn't actually do the removing. I went into a spa to get my nails tidied up and the girl who was removing it made it very clear to me that she was not impressed with me - at all. I have never felt so uncomfortable having my nails done. She was carrying on (very loudly) about how horrible it was to the manicurist next to me, who kept looking at me and apologising on my manicurists behalf. She was scrubbing at the glitter so damn hard that my fingers felt raw and I have never had someone so hostile towards me sitting so close. It was awkward and it is safe to say I will never be returning to such an unprofessional place - which is ironically names Professio-nail. (The one at Chermside for anyone who is interested.)

Onto the actual polish itself, it was opaque in two coats and I can see yellow, blue and pink glitter in there from my macro shot. A stunning polish, I just could not stop staring at my sparkly, sparkly nails.

If you use the glitter method of removal that involves soaking cotton wool in remover and wrapping around the nail and letting it sit for a few minutes, I don't see any major issues getting it of. As a side note, don't attempt to suggest this to snotty manicurists. They don't like suggestions on how their life (and mine) could be easier.

Your thoughts? Who has this polish? Do you love it as much as I do? How hard did you find it to get off?

My giveaway is up and running and includes items like polish and makeup from brands like Stilla, Bare Minerals, BYS, Gitter Gal, WowSoCool and UNT Skincare. If you haven't already, please make sure you enter!

That's it from me today.

Be awesome to each other.

it sucks that its hard to take this off but look how beautiful this looks -- there is always a down-point to every beautiful thing, it sucks that you had to face that in the spa though :(
i have some glitters too that are really pain to take off and take forever ! but i totally love them since they look gorgeous :D ^_^

  8. Hi Alicia,

It is such an awesome polish. And yes, if you want to keep your hands and nails safe, don't suggest alternatives to your nail tech.

  11. Hi Erica,

I was totally shocked by it all. It was the worst experience ever - other then when the lady at the place that tidies up my eyebrows told me I had "a bit of a moustache going on" in order to upsell.

  12. Hi Siwing,

I'm lucky that my friend Jess got me this when she did because I've never even seen it in the collection that was released here in Australia. It seems like it was the only colour that totally sold out from the range.

  14. Hi BrownSmoke,

There are easier ways to remove glitter, just soak a cotton pad in remover, wrap it round your nail, then wrap the whole end of your finger in aluminium foil and let it sit for about 10 mins. The polish should come off easily.

  17. I recently bought this one too. I love it so much. It would have been perfect for New Years Eve. It also makes me think of Mardi Gras (New Orleans), so I might rock it then. :)

  18. LOL, this is a funny post.

I'm actually wearing Sparkle-icious right now. My first time, btw, so I'm dreading the time when I have to remove it.

Otherwise, it's really a gorgeous nail colour. I can't stop staring at my nails!

  21. I love this polish. A tip to get it off: Fill up the lid of the polish remover carefully with remover and soak each finger in the lid for about a minute... make sure you wash your hands straight after tho. I use this method and every time it works. You may get a little glitter in the remover lid but hey, atleast its not all over your fingers and hands :)
