Nubar Sphinx Purple and Orly Luxe

Double Stamp

Today's NOTD are Nubar Sphinx Purple (or perhaps it is Purple Sphinx) with Orly Luxe stamped over the top. These remind me of Easter eggs. Good thing I like Easter eggs.

Double Stamp

Sphinx Purple was part of the 2009 Cleopatra collection, which is a whole collection of purples. This polish is a pinky purple with blueish undertones. It is much less sheer then I was expecting, so much so that this one was a two coater.

Single Stamp

I only have the one from this collection. I find it hard to come by Nubar polishes here in Brisbane without paying extortionate postage to get them sent from overseas. I would really like some more. I love their brushes and the colours are awesome. Their collections are usually amazing and it makes me very sad I can't get more :(
Single Stamp

I stamped this one with one of the Bundle Monster plates. The spotty one (well duh). I am loving using the Orly Foil FX polishes for stamping. They keep their colour vibrancy and awesomeness well when used with the plates and are thin enough to pick up delicate designs but not dry on the stamper before you have time to transfer the image.

I stamped twice on one hand because my nails are long, as you can see, my lining up skills leave much to be desired. On the other hand, I did a single stamp in the middle. I am still unsure which I like better.

You can enter my Konad comp right here.

That's it. Be awesome to each other.

  2. They work really well don't they? I'm a big fan. And it's much more econonical to buy those then to pay for the special polishes that are (a) nowhere near as awesome and (b) not able to be used as a notmal polish as well.

  5. Awesome! Love the colour combo.
Have you ever heard of nail marbling? I found a tutorial on a Wasted Seventeen blog and I think it looks awesome, and so easy to do!

  7. Hi Everyone!

Thank you so much for your comments!

    Liloo,
    Thank you very much!

    Jonna,
I tried water marbleing really early on in my blog. FAIL! I have seen a video for drag marbling, but perhaps I should give the water one one more go?

    'chelle,
It makes me so sad to see that we have to pay $20 for a bottle of OPI or Orly to buy it off the shelves, even the few salons that stock CG don't sell for less then $15 a bottle.

    Twister,
Thank you very much, I was pretty happy with the result.

    Jillian,
I am glad I could help out. Polka dots are super cute, I'm not sure why I haven't doneit before.

  8. I just checked out your water marbling experience, and even though you said it failed, I think it looks awesome! I just tried it with my sister.... Well. That was FAIL. I might post pictures of it, though I think it's quite embarassing... lol!

  10. I just bought the bundle monster..can't wait for it to come in the mail!!! =)

Your nails came out really nice..I'm still looking for good polishes to use instead of the ridiculously messy konad special polish..I might have to try the orly one because it looks like it shows good when using it to stamp..

  12. CC0215,
The Bundle Monster plates are a whole heap of awesomesauce. You'll love it. I like Orly Foil FX, the China Glaze OMG range work well for me as do the Khrome collection, well that one I haven't tested myself, but I have heard. I also stamped using CG Flip Flop Fantasy which was fun. I know what you mean about the special polishes they take a little getting used to.

    Jonna,
I saw it!!!! You get an A for effort and also for enthusiasm. And we are def failures together. We can be like....the Fabulous Fails! Lol. Enjoy your weekend!
