Why My Friend Megan May Be One Of The Most Awesome People Ever!

I told you a little while back that one of my best friends got me some Illamasqua polishes for Christmas. My first ever Illamasquas, so they hold a special place in my heart.

Megs and I went to Robina to do some Christmas shopping together and I knew that they Myer there had just opened up a Benefit Brow Bar and I thought I might get some individual false lashes applied, because really, why not? I saw the Benefit counter and then behind it I spied one of the most awesome things I have ever seen. The Illamasqua counter. I was off like a shot leaving poor Megs to trail behind me wondering what had possessed me so.

I still cannot justify $35 a bottle or even 2 for $50 for polish - but Megs can. I love my polishes so, so much. They apply like nothing I've ever used before and the colour is amazing. I now have four Illamasqua polishes and I love them.

This is one of the two bottles I got for Christmas - Viridian. This is one of the two polishes released in the Art of Darkness collection alongside the rich burnt red of Scarab which I may cave and cough up the money for after all.

Viridian is described as a peacock green with a metallic finish on the Illamasqua website. I say it is a dark teal base with a slightly lighter teal microshimmer that leans towards blue. It's a cool toned polish and is so intense in pigmentation that you can get away with one coat, which makes the price a little more realistic since it would take you twice or even three times as long to go through this then a bottle of OPI which retails at $20 a bottle here.
It's application was incredibly smooth and I can't find any fault with it at all other then the price being a little steep considering Illamasqua products are made right here in Australia yet they are cheaper overseas. Which boggles my mind more then a little.

Possible dupes for those out there who can't get their hands on this one - closeish to Nubar Earth but perhaps the Nubar is lighter? That's just from looking at swatch pics. Will do a compare and contrast for you guys when I get a chance.

If you haven't already - check out my current giveaway here.

That's it from me today.

Be awesome to each other.

  6. Hi MusicalHouses,

It is pricey here. I hear the polishes are much cheaper in the States and the UK. Over here, compared to $20 for OPI or Bloom, it's not that much more to get an Illamasqua polish. It i definately and indulgence though.
